Chester Zoo

Image
A few days ago we went to Chester zoo, which is a pretty big and popular zoo here in the UK. Fun fact: According to Trip Adviser, Chester Zoo is rated 3# in the ENTIRE WORLD! It was alright, except for the fact wherever we went there were animals pooping, and there were school kids everywhere. Oh, and not forgetting the monkeys with haemorrhoids, or at least it looked like it. That was something that I could've lived without seeing... SO, moving on from that. My favourite part was the bat cave, which my coward of a sister didn't go anywhere near. It was really cool, I mean, it smelled terrible but it looked really cool... 300 bats flying round your head and you're bound the get hit at some point, which I did. The parks there are really good as well, it's just a pity that we didn't get long on them. It was honestly pretty good, still debating whether or not it was worth getting up at 6 for. Here's a small collage of photos. This is a bear, who has foun...

Bug Handling!

Image
Yesterday on the 3rd of July, we went to Sheffield university again but this time for a ' Be a scientist' day!  It was a lot more interesting than last time, this time we didn't only go to the museum but when we came back we got to handle all sorts of creatures like: cockroaches, stick insects, meal worms, woodlice and meal worm beetles! I held the cockroach first then some other kids had a turn... After that I held a long stick insect that was a lot more active than the cockroach. I think Alicia was much more happy to hold to stick insect than the cockroach! :) we also had a look under some microscopes at real life bug heads... it was weird but extremely interesting! Oh, and by the way we won a years supply of pringles in a competition on Thursday.

Basket Weaving !!!

Image
Just before the Easter holidays i made a basket out of plastic cane it was quite simple and fun!!    This was my first practice...     and this was my finished practice. I liked it so much my nanny got me a kit to make my own basket  at home :D This is my finished basket from the kit it took me a few days but it was sooooooooooooooooooo much  FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the base was the hardest part, it made my fingers numb -.-

Toothless

Image
This afternoon I tried to draw toothless my favourite character in how to train your dragon, not my best drawing but not my worst. My grandad said I could do better, but I don't think I could.   Today I did mostly maths but a bit of speed spelling and art (which is my drawing). This morning my little sister noticed a pigeon in the chicken coop so my nanny had to go and get rid of it but the cockerel keped going after it;) She also spotted a what looks like a big brown rat in the garden, I like rats, I might be getting one when my room in the attic is done ;)

Holding Animals

Image
On sunday i held a barn owl, a HUGE python, leopard lizard, a cockroach, a ferret and a different small snake that i have forgot the name of;) She is called burns the python. The barn owls name I can't remember but she/he was soooo cute and so was the snake :) This is the barn owl I was talking about!!;) #lovehomeed

Baking Baaanaanaaa Loaf

Image
Yesterday we made a banana loaf I baked it with my grandad Ill tell you how I did it: 1.First we put 225g of plain flour in a bowl that we put on a set of scales. 2.Then we added 175g of suger to the previous flour. 3.After I gave it a good mix together and added a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda to help it rise. 4.Then, we put a teaspoon of salt into the mixture of ingredients. 5.After, I added 50g of walnut & almond kernels (chopped) 6.Soon after, stir well and add 3 mushed bananas (this is a great way to make use of nearly gon off bananas). 7.Then beat well 2 eggs then add it to the ingredients stir well until relatively smooth. 8.After, buter a loaf tin to help it not stick pour in the mixture stick it in the oven at gas mark 3 and leave it to bake for one hour. 9.finaly, NOM NOM NOM !!! I hope you try and enjoy this recipe

Owl Pellet

Image
Today we decided to take apart an owl pellet that my grandad found. Owl pellets are regurgitated and contain all the animals’ parts that they can’t digest. They normally contain bone, teeth, hair and feathers of various animals eaten by the owls. First I soaked it in water, Then I put a few drops of disinfectant in. Then I carefully pulled it apart. We found loads of feathers and a few bones. It was quite disappointing because I thought we would at least get a skull. :-( It was more interesting then I thought it would be. Here are a few of the bones that we found. We are hoping to find another pellet soon which might have more it in. :)

First Home Ed. Meeting

Image
My first meeting went very well, i met a few children and they were very nice to me. I think i might of made at least one friend already, first i played a bit of pool with my nanny, she being older she won! then i played ping pong/table tennis. After, I played with my new friend for a bit outside on some exercise equipment. so yeah my very first meeting went excellent, an awful lot better than i thought. After we got home, I decided to watch a science video on how we breath. I learnt that artenes are vessels coming FROM your heart and veins are vessels going TO your heart. The size of your lungs is 75 square meters, wow thats alot of space! I've gotta go now and see if my chickens have laid any eggs:)

Looking forward

I've been wanting to come out of school for about 3 years and ever since i have been taken out of school my behavior has improved especially towards my sister;) I can now also focus more on tending to my plants (veg) so that WHEN we move to sweden i'll know what i'm doing. Cucumbers I'm also looking forward to when my room in the attic is done 'cos' at the moment my grandad is working on it!
